Bloodworks Northwest

Types of services provided: Needs Analysis, Strategic Planning, UC and Contact Center Systems Procurement, Data Network Redesign and Procurement, Data Center Relocation, Project Management, and Implementation of Blended Contact Center

Bloodworks NW (formerly Puget Sound Blood Center) has used COMgroup’s services for 25+ years. COMgroup has assisted them with multiple projects and a variety of telecommunications technology challenges. We helped the client completely redesign the LAN and WAN, obtain a new UC system, consulted on a new call center that blended in-bound and outbound calls, designed a data center for a new building, re-designed the old data center (kept as a secondary site), and provided project management for all projects. The data center project included timely coordination of the relocation of core IT equipment and services. We were able to deliver on time and on budget.

One of the main constraints on almost all projects for Bloodworks Northwest is the 24x7 operations and the critical nature of their business in support of emergencies. All IT projects must undergo specific tests that are mandated by health care regulations. Due to the unique nature of some of the equipment, as many as nine different networks had to be coordinated and accounted for at the main labs. In addition, many of the rooms are special environmental spaces.

Because the entire operation depends upon volunteer blood-donors, the contact center operation is critical and must operate efficiently. COMgroup assisted with a variety of carrier-based problems and system challenges to ensure top performance.
